Our terms of work.

Last updated: 28 October 2026

These terms cover the work Castle Bank Electrical Ltd carries out for you, at home or at your business, unless we agree different terms in writing. Your quotation sets out the work, the price and the payment schedule.

Who we are

Castle Bank Electrical Ltd is registered in England and Wales, company number 14264928. Our registered office is 35 The Gills, Otley, LS21 2BY. You can reach us on 07788 878539 or at info@castle-bank.com.

Quotations

Our quotation covers the work it describes and stays valid for 30 days. Anything it doesn’t list isn’t included, and we’ll always ask before doing anything extra.

Looking before we quote

For a fuse box change we carry out an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) first, to help identify existing issues before we agree the scope and price. If you go ahead with the fuse box change, we take the EICR fee off its price.

If we find a fault while we’re working, we’ll explain it and agree any extra work and cost with you before we carry it out. If something is dangerous, we’ll make it safe straight away and tell you.

Changes to the work

We agree any change to the work, the price or the timing with you in writing, by email or WhatsApp, before we make it.

Payment

We discuss and agree the payment schedule with you before you accept the quotation, and it’s set out in the quotation. It usually starts with a deposit to book the work and order materials. Smaller jobs are then paid on completion, and larger jobs, such as extensions and new builds, in agreed stages with the balance on completion. Payment is by bank transfer.

Your right to cancel

If you book as a consumer at your home or through our distance booking process, you normally have a 14-day right to cancel without giving a reason. For service contracts, this ends 14 days after the day the contract is agreed; different deadlines can apply where goods are supplied. We’ll provide the applicable cancellation instructions, deadline and cancellation form before you accept the quotation.

If you want a service to start during that period, we’ll ask for your express request in writing and explain the cancellation consequences first. If you then cancel, any charge for services already provided will be proportionate and payable only where the legal requirements have been met. We’ll refund any balance due within 14 days of cancellation.

Our warranty

Our workmanship comes with a 5-year labour warranty, and the materials we supply come with a 3-year warranty, both from the date the work is completed. If a fault is caused by our work or our materials in that time, we’ll put it right at no cost to you.

The warranty doesn’t cover accidental damage, misuse, normal wear and tear, faults caused by alterations or repairs by others, lamps and batteries, or parts of the installation we didn’t work on. Products you supply aren’t covered by our materials warranty; our workmanship when installing them is still covered. The warranty is in addition to your legal rights, and doesn’t affect them.

The warranty applies to our work and supplied materials at the property named in your quotation. To make a claim, contact us on 07788 878539 or at info@castle-bank.com with the property address, job details and a description of the fault.

Certificates and building control

When the work is finished we test it and give you the electrical certificate for it. We agree the Building Control route and any fees before starting notifiable work. You receive the applicable Building Control paperwork.

On site

Please give us clear access to the work areas, the fuse box and the meter, and let us know about parking and any pets. We protect floors and furniture where needed and take our waste away. Making good and decorating aren’t included unless your quotation says so.

Delays

If something outside our control holds the work up, such as material supply, the weather or other trades, we’ll tell you as soon as we can and agree a new date with you.

Our responsibility

We’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that’s a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Commercial work

For commercial work these terms apply unless we agree other terms in writing, for example your own subcontract or purchase order. If an invoice is paid late, we may claim interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

If something isn’t right

Please tell Will or Dan straight away and we’ll put it right.
